Gold Stars returned to winning ways in the Ghana Premier League with a 2-0 emphatic win over Karela United at Dun’s Park.
Emmanuel Appau struck the opening goal for the Gye Nyame lads in the 13th minute mark before Noah Martey netted the second goal four minutes later to seal the three points as Michael Osei’s side climbed to the second position of the summit with 26 points.
Despite a fire crescendo start, the home side slowed their pace when going forward in the second half, and although they bossed the midfield and controlled much of the game, they lacked a spark in the dying embers as Karela pushed men upfront to at least get a goal and subsequently - the much-needed leveler, but later turned out fruitless.
Karela are just two points away from the relegation zone as they lurk on the 15th spot with 19 points.
The Gye Name lads will be hoping to continue with their winning streak as they travel to Accra to face Lions in match week 17 on Monday, February 13, while Karela will welcome Kotoku Royals to the CAM Park on Sunday, February 12, with kickoff scheduled at 3pm.
