Hearts of Oak were held to a 1-1 draw by Heart of Lions in a friendly match played at the Kpobiman Sports Complex as both Ghana Premier League sides used the fixture to maintain fitness during the league break.
Heart of Lions struck first with an early goal, but the Phobians responded through Hamza Issah, who restored parity with a well-taken equaliser to ensure the match ended level.
The encounter served as an important training exercise for both teams, giving coaches the opportunity to assess squad depth and keep players in competitive rhythm during the unexpected pause in domestic football action. Hearts of Oak showed a balanced and disciplined performance across both halves as they continue preparations for the resumption of league fixtures.
The break in the Ghana Premier League followed a decision by the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association to postpone all Match Day 30 fixtures. This came after the tragic death of Berekum Chelsea player Dominic Frimpong, who lost his life following an armed robbery attack on the team bus. The postponement was made to allow the football community to mourn and honour the late player.
The league is scheduled to resume on the weekend of May 1–4, 2026, with Match Day 31 fixtures set to continue the season.
