Sheriff Mohammed's second half penalty was enough for Asante to narrowly defeat Medeama SC by 1-0 at the Baba Yara Stadium in match-day 11 of the Ghana Premier League.
The homesters with a blistering start into the game as Steven Mukwala combined nicely with Zeze to go for goal but his effort was parried away by goalkeeper Felix Kyei.
The homesters given a free kick on the 17th minute. Kamaradini Mamudu swung in a decent effort but was checked by the host backline.
Medeama SC finally had the ball at the back of the net on the 31st minute, thanks to a rebound Kamaradini's header from Ebenezer Nkrumah's cross from the right but was ruled out for an offside.
In the second half, the Mauves and Yellows returned with the same approach, looking very organized at the back and uses their wings in attack.
However, Cameroonian import George Mfegue made his way through opposition territory and was brought down in the box for a penalty. Sheriff Mohammed stepped up and scored to put Kotoko in the lead.
Medeama SC took charge of the henceforth in search of the leveller and earned themselves two free kicks within six minutes but couldn't make all those opportunities count.
There was no goal produced again as it finished goalless after full time.
Asante Kotoko have now halted their five-game winless run to get themselves back on winning ways.
