A keenly contested game saw Accra Lions snatch 1-0 win against struggling Tamale City, who thought they would frustrate the capital-based side prior to the match.
Lions posted their 10th win of the campaign, to hand Ibrahim Tanko the much-needed away victory at the Aliu Mahama Stadium.
The away side showed more ambition late on, with Dominic Amponsah scoring the match winner in the final five minutes (90+5).
Lions were not to be denied a 10th successive league victory however as they surged to second spot of the league table. The Citizens' third successive home defeat leaves them in the relegation zone (17th with 20 points).
