19-year-old Prince Anane climbed off the bench to score a late goal to secure Berekum Chelsea an important away win over Bibiani Goldstars on Sunday afternoon.
Bibiani Goldstars suffered a back-to-back defeat following a 1-0 home loss to Chelsea in the Ghana Premier League match-week 27 fixture at the Dun's Park.
The defeat inflicted on the Western North Region based outfit by Berekum Chelsea becomes their second home defeat of the 2022/23 season after losing same margin to Dreams FC in season's opener in Bibiani.
Berekum Chelsea looked dangerous in the early stages of the fixture with Awuah Dramani coming close with opener but his strike was calmly saved by Joseph Baah.
Bibiani Goldstars tried capitalizing on their home advantage to take the lead via a free-kick effected by Evans Owusu on the 17th minute but the back line of the visitors were resilient to prevent the Miners from opening the score.
Ghana U23 winger Emmanuel Appau became a difficult customer for Berekum Chelsea but his final deliveries into the box were horrible for Prince Owusu Kwabena and Abednego Tetteh to make them count.
The team teams' effort of opening the score before the break proved futile as it ended in a scoreless draw in the first half of the game.
In the second half, Berekum Chelsea enjoyed majority of the game possession to snatch the winner in the dying embers of the game.
Substitute Prince Anane brilliantly opened the score for Berekum Chelsea after a solo run to slot the ball past goalkeeper Joseph Baah on the 89th minute of the game.
Anane's strike was enough to secure Berekum Chelsea all the three maximum points to keep their season's hopes of finishing among the top-four clubs alive.
The defeat leaves Bibiani Goldstars at 8th position with 38 points while Chelsea move to sixth position with 40 points after twenty-seven matches.
