Samartex kicked off their 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season with a 1-0 victory at home against last season’s runners up - Aduana Stars.
Coach Nurudeen Amadu first starting XI of the new campaign certainly proved a change of era. The tactician handed starting berths to new lads - Samuel Tetteh, Ebenezer Ocran, Michael Ephson (the goal scorer) and Baba Hamadu Musa.
During the first half, the home side looked very organized as Michael Ephson put them in front shortly, right after the goal the youngsters began to hit their stride.
The visitors, meanwhile, were largely toothless as Samartex kept their foot on the gas by sustaining their attacking pressure.
Aduana’s season will not be determined by this defeat to a clearly superior Samartex outfit but Yaw Acheampong will be disappointed with his team's lack of precision.
For the Timber Giants, the future looks bright with their vibrant talent as they’ll surely be at the forefront in whatever they achieve this season.
