Relegated side Nations FC stunned Dreams FC 5-4 on penalties to win Ghana’s FA Cup final at Legon Sports Stadium on Sunday night.

Few tipped Nations before kickoff after their shock drop from the Ghana Premier League, even though they ended their league campaign with a road win over Karela United in Tamale.

Dreams entered as the clear favorites, with most analysts and neutral fans expecting them to take the trophy, but Nations disrupted that plan early on.

Joseph Effah put Nations ahead just before the 30th minute with a fine finish, but Dreams leveled right at the end of the first half when Abdul Razak Salifu scored a beautiful header.

The second half produced no winner, with both sides struggling to create clear chances. The game went to extra time, where opportunities were rare, and it was decided by penalties.

Thanks to the win, Nations FC will play in the CAF Confederation Cup next season — their first appearance in continental competition in club history.
