Former Asante Kotoko lynchpin Michael Akuffo has responded to calls by Wilberforce Mfum that the fans of the club should start beating the players, in response to the team's dismal performance in the current Ghana Premier League season.
Mfum went ahead to demand for the immediate dismissal of head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum following their poor run of form that has culminated in recording five consecutive defeats.
However, Akuffo who is widely known as Gaddafi believes that the players have to improve and win matches rather than physically assaulting them.
“I don’t support beating the players but the players should rather up their game because Kotoko is not just a club but a religion.
"When you worship it wholeheartedly, it will also bless you. These were the words of His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu 11 when I first joined the club, and the rest is history," Akuffo added.
