Michael Awuah Mensah, Hearts of Oak's newest signing, is optimistic about his team's chances in the upcoming 2024/25 Ghana Premier League campaign.

The defender, who joined the Phobians from Nations FC, has expressed confidence that the team can make a strong comeback after a disappointing season.

Hearts of Oak narrowly avoided relegation last season, securing a 3-2 comeback win over Bechem United on the final day of the league. Their poor performance saw them finish 14th on the table, but Awuah Mensah believes that the team can bounce back and even win the league title.

"We were hurt after falling short to Kotoko in the Democracy Cup. We wanted to lift the trophy to appease our fans after a disappointing season," he said. "I will urge the fans not to lose hope in the team. The fans should exercise patience. I believe the leadership of the club are working around the clock to make things better."

Awuah Mensah also dismissed any doubts about Hearts of Oak's ability to win the league, stating that it's no surprise if they do so.

"No one should be surprised if Hearts of Oak wins the league. We can win the league. Hearts of Oak is a big club so it's no news if we win the league," he said.

The 25-year-old defender penned a three-year deal with Hearts of Oak and is expected to play a crucial role for the team next season.
