Hearts of Oak's head coach, Martin Koopman, expressed his belief that his team didn't exhibit enough determination to secure all three points in their match against Karela on Saturday.
On matchday 9 of the Ghana Premier League, the Phobians played to a 1-1 draw with Karela at the Aliu Mahama Stadium on November 4, 2023.
Koopman's squad conceded an early goal in the 6th minute when Emmauel Owusu Boakye headed in the opener for Karela. However, Hearts of Oak managed to equalize on the 40th minute when Hamza Issah guided Salifu Ibrahim's cross into the net.
The match ended in a draw, with both teams earning a point, but Koopman believed that his team's fighting spirit fell short of what was necessary to secure a victory.
In an interview with StarTimes, he remarked, "I think everybody wants to win for Hearts of Oak, and this team also wants to win. We had a lot of fighting spirit, but it wasn't enough to win this game."
Hearts of Oak currently sit in 9th position on the league standings with 10 points.
