Heart of Lions gaffer, Bashir Hayford has stated that their primary goal for the season is not to achieve the top spot in the Ghana Premier League standings, instead prioritizing other objectives.

Lions are currently bossing the 3rd position on the league table with 33 points.

According to the veteran Ghanaian coach, their main objective is to prioritize winning their matches and accruing a good chunk of points at the end of the season, and ensure they avoid what they went through last season.

“The expectation now is very high because of the change in position. The playing body has decided not to go back to what happened to us last season. We will try to win our matches and at the end of it all, if we are able to amass points that can win us the league, so be it," Hayford said.

“We have not targeted the league title. We are not sticking our neck out that we are winning the league. From a relegation haunted team to the top four is okay."

The Dzie Woa Nu outfit will play as visitors to sixth place Hearts of Oak at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium on Friday, January 31.
