Asante Kotoko skipper, Abdul Ganiyu Ismail has asked for his contract to be terminated with immediate effect, per reports in the local media.

The 26 year old led the Porcupine Warriors to their 24th league triumph in the recently finished season, but played fewer matches due to consistent injuries he sustained last season.

According to reports from Kessben FM in Kumasi, the Kotoko skipper has told the management he is not willing to continue with the club anymore and has called for the termination of his contract despite having another year to spare.
 
It was also reported that, the ex- Karela United guardsman didn't make the Sudan trip because of the same reason and not due to any document processing issues, as speculated earlier.
 
The Ghanaian champions arrived in Khartoum, Sudan on the early hours of today to continue with their preseason and will face Al Hilal Omdurman to test their strength heading into the new season.
 
However, Cameroonian duo Franck Etouga Mbella and George Mfegue missed out on the trip due to illness. 
 
Also, Patrick Asmah, Charles Owusu, Maxwell Agyemang and Samuel Boateng were all dropped from the list despite recovering from injuries and is due to caution from the club's medical team. 
 
The injury victims include Justice Blay and Ibrahim Osman. Richmond Lamptey is also out due to delay in documents processing. 
 
Goalkeeper Ibrahim Danlad is currently on international assignment with the Black Galaxies in Austria.
