Ghanaian giants Hearts of Oak have released seven top players ahead of the second phase of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season, according to unconfirmed reports.
Speculations has it that, the sacked players include Richmond Ayi, Eric Ofori Antwi, Albert Eonde, Eric Esso, Michelle Sarpong, Salim Adams and Kojo Obeng Junior.
The main reason for their eviction from the squad is reportedly based on performance and nothing else.
The 'Phobians' despite wrapping up the first round with a vital 1-0 win over Bechem United, still had a very poor and a jittery run in the first phase and are hoping to find their rhythm when the league resumes.
The Rainbow Club recorded four wins, nine draws and four defeats in 17 matches and are currently on the 10th position with 21 points.
Hearts of Oak after this, have decided to conduct a complete squad overhaul with no blemishes this time and are making some omissions and additions before the commencement of the second round.
They will return into league action on February 23, and will host and seek redemption against Real Tamale United in the capital.
