Ghanaian defender Samuel Appiah replaced injured Christopher Nettey in the 67th minute as Kotoko thrashed their city rivals 3-0 on Monday night at the Baba Yara sports stadium.
He excelled so well and on occasions stopped King Faisal's Baba Yahaya from wreaking havoc with his marauding runs. He reminded everyone of his quality.
"I'm happy at Kotoko, not so much with the season, I'd like to play more," Appiah told kickgh.com
"If you’re sitting on the bench or sitting in the stand then you have to believe that you can change things," he gushed.
“If you don’t think that then what’s the point of being here [Kotoko] because you’re just happy to sit on the bench."
“All the players here want to play, of course they do, but the gaffer’s got a tough job of just picking 11 players."
"But I'm grateful for the minutes I'm currently getting and proving that I'm ready to be a starter.
"I'm doing the right things to show that I want to be a starter, that I want to play. I know that they are decisions that the coach makes these decisions
"The truth is, if someone thinks about it and isn't happy, they need to play to prove that they should start."
He has a tremendous amount of potential that can be unleashed if given the chance to do so. Of course, he would indeed need to gain faith from manager Seydou Zerbo.
