Hearts of Oak shot-stopper, Richmond Ayi, believes that the team will perform better in the Confederations cup next season.

Hearts of Oak finished sixth with forty-eight points in the Ghana Premier league last season, failing to defend their league title.

However, the Phobians defended their MTN FA cup triumph by beating Bechem United in the finals by 2:1.

Hearts of Oak were eliminated from the champions league in the preliminary stages and dropped to the Confederations cup.

The winners of the maiden Confederations cup in 2005 also exited from the second-tier of CAF clubs competition after suffering a 4:2 aggregate in the hands of Algerian side JS Saoura.

Ayi, 25, believes that Hearts of Oak will perform better than they did last season in the Confederations cup.

"Hearts of Oak used to be major force in Africa but for the past years they missed out so coming back there it will bring some challenges," Ayi admitted.

"We've participate in one and we had a lot of experience from it and going to for the second time, I have believe and hope in our technical team that they will put a lot of measures in place to make this one better than last season," he added.
