Hearts of Oak board member, Vincent Sowah Odotei believes that Ghana Premier League (GPL) is dead, as he insists that you can't promote the GPL because it's not entertaining.
The GPL especially Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak have been recording low turnouts at their matchdays which has been a topical issue in recent times.
The Ghana Football Association President, Kurt Okraku waded into the conversation over the weekend after Hearts of Oak's victory over Asante Kotoko in the Super Clash.
He blamed Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko for the sickening situation, as he challenged them to find solution to the problem.
Hearts of Oak won the President Cup over their sworn rivals, Asante Kotoko by a 1:0 at the near empty Accra Sports Stadium.
Vincent Sowah Odotei says it's difficult to promote a dead product as he insists that the GPL isn't entertaining.
"I have been saying this for a very long time that football must be entertaining," he said as reported by Pure FM.
"Our game is not fit for purpose. You cannot force people to come and watch a game which is dry and not exciting.
"People have other competing stuff but they still love football so it is up to the regulator of the game to sit up and come up with regulations that will ensure that our game is competitive.
"I know it is very challenging but we must change the narrative. The lack of people at the stadia is not a new thing because it has been happening for the past 15 years and we have to address it but if we don't it will affect the game negatively and to me, it is the responsibility of the FA.
"You can't promote a dead product. We are doing our best but football is entertainment," he added.
