Asante Kotoko striker Albert Amoah says his team is determined to bounce back and make a statement against rivals Hearts of Oak in Sunday’s Ghana Premier League clash.

The Porcupine Warriors will host the Phobians at the Baba Yara Stadium in Matchday 22, and both sides need the points for their title chances.

Kotoko have struggled for consistency recently, losing back-to-back games – first to Heart of Lions in the league and then to Aduana FC in the FA Cup. The team is also without a permanent head coach after Karim Zito resigned, with assistants Prince Yaw Owusu and Hamza Obeng taking temporary charge.

Speaking to Akoma FM, Amoah, who recently returned to Kotoko, stressed the need to improve goal scoring and win back the fans’ trust.

“We are preparing very well for the Hearts of Oak match. We are working more on goal scoring because we need to get more goals against them. I think we are ready for the match on Sunday,” he said.

Amoah added: “We need the points seriously against Hearts. It’s important for us to win back our fans’ heart after inconsistent results. This is a match our fans truly need. I believe securing the points is absolutely crucial.”

Heading into the Super Clash, Hearts of Oak sit fourth on the league table with 36 points, just one ahead of Kotoko, who occupy fifth with 35 points.
