Dreams FC coach Wilfred Dormon has praised his team’s defensive discipline in their goalless draw against Hearts of Oak but admits the result fell short of expectations as they were the dominant side in the game.
The two sides failed to find the net at the University of Ghana Stadium, with Dreams extending their winless run in the Ghana Premier League after the opening five games of the new campaign
Dormon said his players followed their defensive plan well, restricting Hearts’ space and preventing them from exploiting areas behind the backline.
“We were defensively compact. We denied them time and space, while the goalkeeper was able to protect the spaces behind us. We also won the transition balls, and I think we were the better team in the first half. We opened them up and created some good moments,” he said.
He explained that Dreams changed their approach after the interval, opting for a mid-block in an attempt to exploit opportunities on the counter-attack.
“During the break, we made one or two adjustments and decided to play in a mid-block and catch them on the transition. We had some moments where we were able to do that,” he noted.
Dreams FC will now look to secure their first league win when they travel to Tamale to face Karela United in the next round of matches.
