Medeama SC defender, Kofi Asmah, acknowledges the valuable lessons he learned from former teammate Vincent Atinga, who recently departed the club after choosing not to renew his contract.
Asmah, who is making his debut in continental football, had the opportunity to partner with both Atinga and Abdulai Nurudeen in central defense. He believes that his time playing alongside Atinga has significantly contributed to his development as a player.
“You learn from those who know how to play the game so what he taught me has helped shape my career.
Asmah also pointed out that the partnership between himself, Nurudeen Abdulai, and Atinga was influenced by the style of play Atinga had previously implemented.
“That is what has helped partner Nurudeen Abdulai because he {Vincent Atinga] has partnered myself and Nurudeen and their partnership is the style we also implemented against Horoya.” Kofi Asmah said.
This partnership proved effective in their 3-1 victory over Guinea's Horoya Athletic Club in the first leg of the second preliminary round of the CAF Champions League, where Asmah was part of the squad.
Atinga's influence on Asmah's development has been significant, and Asmah is now focused on applying these lessons to further advance his career.
