Nsoatreman have eased the pressure on head coach Abdulai Gazale with a 2-0 victory over Basake Holy Stars at the Nana Amoah Koronmansah Park this afternoon.
Another drawn game was recorded at the Nii Adjei Kraku II stadium earlier this afternoon when Vision FC held Bechem United to a pulsating 1-1 draw in an epic GPL week 7 tie.
Karela and Heart of Lions played out one of the most entertaining Premier League fixtures of the season so far as the Pride and Passion triumphed 1-0 in a no mercy extravaganza at the Aliu Mahama Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Seemingly inspired by Abdul Latif’s late straw penalty for Karela, as the 22-year-old midfielder rippled the net with his penalty in the 87th minute after Hardi Mohammed was brought down in the 18-yard box.
Both side’s could not break the deadlock in the first half, but Abdul Latif scored from the spot kick just three minutes on the board.
It was deja vu a matter of moments later as the game ended 1-0 in favor of Karela, as it was expected by the local fans who would have been left shattered if they had lost to their visitors.
As expected, the second half was a much more tepid affair, and the biggest talking point before the 90-minute mark struck was Karela fans turning on their own under-fire gaffer Jimmy Cobblah.
Chants of 'we have to win this game' rang out in their local parlance from the home end as Karela fans charged Cobblah to go for the kill and give them the desired victory which later on materialized.
As scintillating as the attacking play was from both sides, Karela’s defensive concerns were laid bare as the visitors remain at the foot of the rankings, still searching for their second win of the new term, recording a mind blowing five draw stalemates.
Meanwhile, Karela have climbed to twelve position with eight points, while Heart of Lions are eleventh - also on 8 points.
