Interim head coach of Asante Kotoko, Hamza Obeng, has described the club’s 2025/26 Ghana Premier League campaign as disappointing following their final-day defeat to Swedru All Blacks.

The Porcupine Warriors ended their season with a 2-1 loss at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday, a result that capped a difficult and inconsistent league run.

Speaking after the match, Obeng admitted the outcome was painful, especially given the expectation of finishing the campaign strongly in front of their home supporters.

“What I will say is that the result is very bad. I think at least we should have gotten the result to make our fans happy. But all the same, it’s part of the game, so we move from there and concentrate on the next season,” he said.

The interim coach did not shy away from assessing the season as a whole, acknowledging that Kotoko fell short of expectations across the board.

“It was a poor season from the team, but it’s part of the game. It happens like this, but we need to look at it and make good preparations towards the next season,” Obeng added.

The defeat confirmed Kotoko’s finish in eighth place on the Ghana Premier League table, bringing an underwhelming campaign to a close.

Attention will now shift to rebuilding and restructuring ahead of the next season, as the club looks to return to title contention after a frustrating year.
