Thirty-five (35) players have been earned call-ups to commence preparations for the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers against Ghana.
Nigeria coach Austin Eguavoen has announced a 35-man squad list of home-based talent to begin camping for the all-important fixtures against the Black Galaxies of Ghana.
The squad list is headlined by Nigeria Premier League top scorer Anas Yusuf of Nasarawa United, Remo Stars' energetic wing-back Ismail Sadiq, Kano Pillars' in-form forward Zikifilu Rabiu, and Enugu Rangers' midfielder Kazeem Ogunleye.
Muhammad Zilkifilu of Kano Pillars, Plateau United's Temitope Vincent, and Michael Enaruma, who have excelled in the Nigerian top-flight league in the ongoing season, also made the cut.
However, former Leicester City and Al Nassr striker Ahmed Musa, who returned to the Nigeria Premier League after spending 13 years in Europe, was left out by Augustine Eguavoen despite his performance for Kano Pillars. He has scored a goal in two game outings since joining them.
The home-based Nigerian team is hoping to secure revenge against Ghana after missing out on the last edition of the CHAN following a defeat in a penalty shootout to the Black Galaxies.
The first-leg fixture tie is slated for the weekend of December 20-22, with the decisive return leg a week later.
The winner of this two-legged clash will secure a spot at the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN), set to take place across Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
