South Africa secured a 1-0 victory over Egypt in an evenly contested friendly at Cairo International Stadium on Sunday, 4 October 2026.

The Bafana Bafana settled the match with the only goal shortly after half-time, while Egypt were unable to convert sustained pressure into an equaliser.

Neither side managed to break the deadlock during a goalless first half. Egypt looked to create openings after the interval, but South Africa struck on the counter-attack in the 51st minute.

Puso Dithejane finished the move with his right foot to put the visitors ahead.

Egypt responded by increasing the pressure, with Omar Marmoush, Ibrahim Adel and their team-mates seeking a way through the South African defence. However, their attempts failed to produce a goal.

The hosts came closest in the closing stages when Ibrahim Adel hit the crossbar in the ninth minute of added time.

Egypt continued to attack during the remainder of stoppage time, but South Africa held firm to preserve their lead until the final whistle.

The Bafana Bafana therefore left Cairo with a 1-0 win, secured by Dithejane’s second-half goal.
