It was, way, comfortable as the scoreline suggests for England, as they rose to the occasion to secure a place in the quarter-finals of the World Cup as they beat Senegal 3-0 at the Al Bayt stadium, in a win to reignite their unbeaten record against African side's at the global tournament.

Senegal started out strong but were unfruitful and unlucky in front of goal in the early minutes of kick off. It took 38 minutes for a goal to arrive and felt desperately cruel that the otherwise outstanding Senegal backline was sloppy enough to give England the lead.

Jude Bellingham nipped a cheeky pass in the box to Jordan Henderson, who took full advantage and whipped the ball home to put Senegal’s fate in disarray.

The Lions of Teranga best moments came when Dia's shot was blocked by onrushing Stones before the ball fell right in front of Ismaila Sarr, who missed a rare chance to score the opener as his close range fierce shot was superbly palmed away by Pickford to ricocheted off the turf.

Harry Kane bossley dramed down a good pass from Phil Foden to slot home, before making it a double after 45+3minutes for a two-goal advantage at the break.

Senegal came all out but their intense pressing went nowhere in reducing the deficit after recess, but it was the Three Lions who scored again, courtesy of Bukayo Saka for a 3-0 lead.

Substitute - Marcus Rashford left England panting and puffing in vain for the fourth as he failed to capitalize on several good scoring chances at the dying embers to totally kill off the game.

England will however face France in the quater-finals, having kept three clean sheets - whilst also recording their best ever goal scoring campaign in this tournament.

For England, these are special times, because of the farce of four years ago, when Gareth Southgate's side returned from Russia in disgrace as their bid to reach a first World Cup final since 1966 was cut short as they lost in extra time to Croatia.
