American center-man Ismail Elfath has been named to officiate Ghana's 2022 World Cup opener against Portugal on Thursday.
The 40 year old will be making his debut at the biggest global football competition, following his impressive output in the MLS for the past years and also at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2019
Elfath, will be assisted by countrymen Jonathan Corey Parker and Kyle Atkins on the lines, with French female referee Stephanie Frappart to serve as the fourth official. Amando Villarreal will be the head in the VAR room.
He is expected to offer his 'A' game in order to establish himself as mainstay when it comes to FIFA competitions.
The game is scheduled for 1600GMT Thursday, November 24, at the Stadium 974.
