Huge blow for Senegal who will miss the service of starman Sadio Mane ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup with just few days to kickoff in the Middle East
The reigning African footballer of the year sustained an injury in Bayern Munich's 6-1 thrashing over Weder Bremen last Tuesday night in the Bundesliga.
The 30 year old fractured his knee after just 15 minutes from kickoff and after series medical attention, it appeared he couldn't continue and was subsequently replaced by Leroy Sane on the 21st minute.
French top tabloid L'Equipe have reported this morning that, the ex- Liverpool star won't be in Qatar for the Mundial.
This is definitely a big miss for coach Aliou Cisse who announced his final squad just few days ago and looks like he has to replace him very soon.
Sadio Mane played an integral role in helping Senegal qualify for the World Cup, having scored the winning kick to secure the spot- just like he did when the two sides met at the final of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
Senegal have been put in Group A alongside host nation Qatar, Ecuador and Netherland- whom they will face in their opening game on Monday, November 21, at the Al Thumama Stadium.
