Club Career

Atlético Madrid (2012–2020)

Thomas Partey began his European career after signing with Atlético Madrid in 2012, following a brief time at Leganés. He was initially placed in the club’s reserve team, and in March 2013, he received his first senior team call-up for a La Liga match against Real Sociedad, although he didn’t feature in the game.

Loans to Mallorca and Almería

Partey was loaned to Mallorca in 2013, where he scored his first professional goal. He later joined Almería in 2014, making his La Liga debut and scoring twice in a match against Granada.

Return to Atlético Madrid (2015–2020)

Partey made his senior debut for Atlético Madrid in November 2015 and scored his first La Liga goal in January 2016. He featured in the 2016 UEFA Champions League Final and later helped the team win the Europa League in 2018. Partey became the first African to score for Atlético in the Champions League and reached 100 La Liga appearances before leaving in 2020. Though he left early that season, he still qualified for a La Liga winner’s medal.

Arsenal (2020–2025)

Thomas Partey joined Arsenal in October 2020 after the club activated his £45 million release clause. He made his debut shortly after but struggled with injuries in his early months.

Partey scored his first goal for the club in 2021 and was named Player of the Month in February 2022. He had a solid 2022–23 season, scoring key goals including Arsenal’s Goal of the Season. Although a hamstring injury limited his appearances in 2023–24, he returned strongly in 2024, scoring against Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest, and Manchester City. His contract expired in 2025, and no renewal was agreed.
