Comfort Owusu's second half goal was enough for the Black Princesses who recorded a slim 1-0 win over Ethiopia in their opening game of the 2023 African Games.
Coach Yussif Basigi announced a strong line up for the game- one that featured Berline Nyarkoh, Mafia Nyame, Tracey Twum, Success Ameyaa, Comfort Yeboah with Mukarama Abbdulai leading the attack.
The Princesses set off to a brighter start as Mafia Nyame came so close to finding the net but his effort went wide for a restart.
Both teams at some point took the game at each other with the Ethiopians mostly packed in their zone but there was no goal produced at half time.
Back from recess, the Princesses bounced back stronger and attacked right from onset in search of the opener.
Fourteen minutes into the second half, Comfort Owusu fired at the back of the net to steal the lead for Ghana.
The game became so intensed to the level where the Princesses had to finish the game with ten players after Abiba Issah was shown the second yellow on the 78th minute.
After series of attempts, it ended 1-0 for Ghana after full time.
