Asamoah Kuffour, captain of the Black Satellites, conveys the team's gratitude for the opportunity to represent Ghana at the 2023 African Games hosted in their home country.
With Ghana set to kick off their campaign against Congo at the Accra Sports Stadium in the Group A opener, Kuffour highlighted the team's readiness and determination to excel in the tournament.
Reflecting on Ghana's performance in the previous African Games, where they failed to progress from the group stage, Kuffour emphasized the significance of the upcoming competition.
During a pre-game press conference at the Accra Sports Stadium’s press room, Kuffour expressed, "There are many young players out there looking for this opportunity and we are grateful to be selected to represent Ghana in this competition."
"We are ready and we are prepared enough to win the trophy.”
In a challenging Group A alongside Congo, The Gambia, and Benin, the team's immediate focus is on securing a top-two finish before setting sights on the title pursuit.
Ghana's football history in the African Games includes one gold medal and two bronze medals over the span of 65 years, a legacy the Black Satellites aim to uphold with their performance in the upcoming tournament.
