Nigeria superstars Victor Oshimen and Asisat Oshoala were crowned CAF Men's and Women's footballer of the Year Award respectively at the just-ended continental football award gala in Morocco.

Oshimen won the accolade for the first time after an impressive campaign last season with SSC Napoli, helping them to end their Italian Serie A title drought after 33 years.

The lanky attacker notched up 26 goals and provided four assists in 32 league matches for Napoli to help them win the Italian Scudetto.

Osimhen saw off competition from Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi and Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah.

In the Women's category, Nigeria and FC Barcelona attacker Asisat Oshoala has clinched the CAF Women's footballer of the Year Award for the sixth time.

Oshoala won her record-extending CAF Women's footballer of the Year Award after beating off competition from Racing Louisville and South African star Thembi Kgatlana and Zambia’s Barbara Banda.

Moroccan tactician Walid Regragui won the coach of the year award after guiding the Atlas Lions to reach the semis of the 2022 FIFA World Cup for the first time in African football history at the global showpiece.
