The Nigerian national football team, Super Eagles B, has released an 18-man roster for the first leg of their African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifying clash against Ghana’s Black Galaxies.
The crucial match will take place on Sunday, December 24, at the Accra Sports Stadium in Ghana, with kickoff scheduled for 4:00 PM local time (5:00 PM Nigerian time).
Stand-in Head Coach Daniel Ogunmodede has assembled a squad combining youth and experience, featuring seasoned midfielder Rabiu Ali, dynamic wing-back Ismail Sadiq, solid centre-back Steven Manyo, and prolific forwards Anas Yusuf and Sikiru Alimi.
The Super Eagles B have been in intense preparation over the past three weeks at the Remo Stars Sports Institute in Ikenne-Remo. Ogunmodede has received support from assistant coaches Fidelis Ilechukwu and Olatunji Baruwa, focusing on refining the team's tactics and building cohesion ahead of the must-win encounter.
The stakes are high, as Nigeria aims to secure a spot in the 8th African Nations Championship, set to take place from February 1-28, 2025, in Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda.
The return leg of the qualifier is scheduled for Thursday, December 28, at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Nigeria, where the Super Eagles B will aim to capitalize on home advantage.
