Nigeria head coach, Daniel Ogunmodede has disclosed that his team were scared of Ghana during the first leg of their CHAN 2024 qualifier.

The Super Eagles B fisticuff with the Black Galaxies of Ghana on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium, with the match producing no goals.

Daniel Ogunmodede, however, admitted his men came into the match with extreme caution to avoid being flip bounced.

"We were scared of the Ghanaians in the first half, but we were better in the second half, right? We will take it from there, and we are going to be best on our home ground," Ogunmodede told Pan-Africa Football.

Ogunmodede is convinced his side will secure qualification in the decisive return leg.

"We have our chance to qualify, and we are going to take it. Obviously, as giants of Africa, we know how important it is for players, our local league, and what our federation is trying to build for the nation."

The second leg of the qualifiers against Super Eagles B will be played on Saturday, December 28, at Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.

The African Nations Championship will take place in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania in February 2025.
