Ghana still winless after three matches in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers after being held by Sudan to a goalless draw at the Ohene Gyan Stadium.
Coach Otto Addo welcomed back Gideon Mensah and Alexander Djiku in the line up after missing the last game due to injuries. Kudus Mohammed skippered the side while Ibrahim Sulemana was given his first start.
The Black Stars first incursions came in the seventh minute after Alidu Seidu was picked up with a good pass and made his way into the box but resulted into nothing.
Nine minutes later, Semenyo did very well on the left flanks to race into the Sudan territory and had the option of Jordan Ayew at far post but decided to go for goal himself but was parried out to a wasted corner kick.
In the half-hour mark, Abdelrahman combined nicely with Abo Eisa but the latter's strike went wide for a goal-kick.
In the second half, Ghana continued to instill their authority on the game and dominated in terms of possession but struggled to penetrate the Sudan backline.
In the 55th minute, the Black Stars came so close to scoring after Alidu Seidu spotted Semenyo at far post but his final touch was a very poor one.
Moments later, Ibrahim Sulemana sent in a strong hit from miles out with Kudus Mohammed on the turn but Mohammed Mustafa pulled double stops to save the situation.
The Falcons of Jediane were awarded a free kick on the 73rd minute and Mohamed Eisa went in with a good delivery but was tipped off nicely by Lawrence Ati-Zigi.
With nine minutes to go, Kudus Mohammed stepped up for a free kick but went off the human wall for a wasted corner kick.
Few moments after Kudus missed a sitter, he managed to take on players and spotted Inaki Williams at close range but his effort was stopped by the goalkeeper. It finished goalless after full time.
The return leg is scheduled for Monday, October 14, at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Libya.
