Nigeria were drawn into Group C of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations alongside Carthage Eagles of Tunisia, the Cranes of Uganda, and the Taifa Stars of Tanzania.
Super Eagles’ captain William Troost-Ekong shared his excitement about the draw, and went ahead to state that they will not underestimate their group opponents and that they possess the talent to defeat other teams to win the championship.
“AFCON 2025 draw is now over, very exciting to see the groups. Tunisia, Uganda and Tanzania. Three teams that needs to be respected,” Troost-Ekong told the Super Eagles media.
“I think we have the experience now on how to handle situation like this. There are no easy games again in Africa. That’s a common knowledge now.
”However, I believe we have what it takes to come out of this group and this time go all the way. We learnt so much last year from the AFCON in Abidjan.
“This time, we will be more ready and work hard throughout the year to make sure everyone is fit and ready.
"We are looking forward to playing under the new coach. Exciting year ahead , and I’m very happy with the AFCON draw.”
On Tuesday, December 23, the Super Eagles will play their first game of the competition against Tanzania at the Complexe Sportif de Fès in Fès.
Four days later, Eric Chelle’s team will play Tunisia in their second group match at the same location.
On Tuesday, December 30, the Complexe Sportif de Fès in Fès will host their final group match against Uganda.
