Ghana's failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco has come as a bitter disappointment and brought a stinging rebuke from fans around the country.
A 2-1 loss in Accra on Monday, November 18, 2024 sealed Black Stars fate as they finished fourth in their pool (Group F) with just three points, with the West African side failing to secure a place at the continental showpiece.
However, Kingston, a former Ghana international and gaffer of the Black Starlets team was understandably disappointed with Ghana's output in the qualifiers, but says there have been mitigating factors to the failure.
Kingston, making his remarks in the lead-up to the final draw of the Afcon 2025 on Monday, bemoaned his sadness over Ghana's failure to the tourney.
“I am very disappointed that our beloved country Ghana did not qualify. One of the strongest countries in African football soccer will not be participating in the AFCON in Morocco and that is quite a disappointing moment for me,” he told Sporty FM.
With the World Cup qualifiers set to resume in March, the Black Stars are second in Group I with nine points - Ghana will take on Chad and Madagascar.
