Niger has requested to use the Accra Sports Stadium as its home venue for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, following the country’s failure to secure a CAF-approved stadium.
The Nigerien Football Federation has reportedly approached the relevant authorities in Ghana seeking approval to host its home qualifying matches at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Accra Sports Stadium is currently the only venue in Ghana approved by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to host the qualifiers.
The stadium is also expected to serve as the main home venue for Ghana’s Black Stars during their 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign.
Niger’s request comes as CAF’s venue requirements continue to force several countries without approved facilities to stage home matches outside their borders.
If approved, the arrangement would see the Accra Sports Stadium host both Ghana’s home qualifiers and potentially Niger’s designated home fixtures during the campaign.
