Romania based striker Emmanuel Yeboah was adjudged the Man of the Match in the Black Meteors of Ghana's five-goal thriller win over Congo in the 2023 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations group A opening game.
Yeboah climbed off the bench to register two goals to propel the Black Meteors to a 3-2 win to begin their tournament campaign on a good note at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, Morocco.
FC Nordsjaelland winger Ernest Nuamah opened the score for Ghana from a close range via a pass delivered by Yeboah on the 50th minute of the game.
Ghana doubled their lead on the 75th minute through Emmanuel Yeboah who pounced on a defensive clanger.
Just three minutes after, Arko Mensah won a penalty for Ghana after he was penalized by Djigo Saikou. The culprit stepped over and had his kick saved.
The kick had to be taken again after the goalkeeper came off his line. Arko Mensah used the other direction and was saved but suffered another retaken after coming off the line once more.
The third kick was taken by Emmanuel Yeboah who converted nicely to snatch his brace and Ghana's third of the day.
The Congolese scored twice in the space of some few minutes to make it 3-2 kind courtesy.
Yeboah, who is a product of Division One League side Young Apostles FC, ply his trade in Romania at top-tier side CFR Cluj.
