Aliou Cissé has stepped down as head coach of the Libya national football team, ending his tenure after just one year in charge.
The former Senegal national football team boss announced his resignation on Instagram following a friendly against Liberia national football team, describing the experience as “incredibly enriching.”
Cissé thanked players, staff, and fans for their support despite a challenging spell that included mixed results and off-field issues, notably delayed salary payments involving the Libyan Football Federation.
Appointed in March 2025, he oversaw 10 matches, recording three wins, five draws, and two defeats before his departure.
