Legendary footballer, Asamoah Gyan says Nigerian international Victor Osimhen deserves to win the prestigious African Footballer of the Year award.
The 24-year-old who plies his trade for Italian champions Napoli was in outstanding form last season as he netted 26 goals, providing 4 assists in 32 matches to propel the Little Donkeys to win the Serie A title for the first time in 30 years.
Gyan, who turned up at Jay-Jay Okocha’s 50th birthday celebration told Nigeria's first and only sports radio station Brila FM, that Osimhen's blistering performance last season deserves to win him the African Footballer of the Year gong.
“For me, he deserves it. As a striker and seeing what he is doing, for the first time in over 30 years, winning the league with Napoli. He deserves it,’‘ Gyan said.
