Charles Sagoe Jr has handed Ghana a boost after he turned down the chance to represent Liberia at the international level.

The Arsenal winger declined an invitation to represent the Lone Stars in their upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Namibia and Equatorial Guinea.

Sagoe Jr, 21, who is eligible to play for Liberia through his mother, has informed the Liberia Football Association that he needs more time before deciding on his international future.

Kickgh.com understands that Sagoe Jr appreciated the gesture but wants to carefully consider his next step, as he is mindful of the long-term implications for his career and family.

Ghana are also tracking the youngster’s progress closely, with the Black Stars reportedly interested in convincing him to pledge his international future to them.

Sagoe Jr has made a bright start to the season with Arsenal’s U21s, scoring three goals and providing three assists in seven appearances, a form that has drawn attention from national selectors.

For now, the highly rated forward remains undecided, leaving both Liberia and Ghana watching closely as he weighs up his options for international football.
