Ivory Coast has announced its decision to withdraw from hosting the Africa U20 Cup of Nations competition, following a decision by the government.

The Ivorian government has officially written to the country's football governing body to communicate to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) the regrettable move not to host the U20 AFCON.

The tournament is scheduled to commence in the West African nation from 26 April 2025 to 18 May 2025. However, the Ivorian government has confirmed the impossibility of hosting the biennial youth tournament.

CAF has been handed a big blow following the withdrawal of Ivory Coast as host nation, leaving the continental football governing body in a rush to find a new host weeks to stage the tournament.

Kickgh.com understands that if CAF fails to find a new host in the coming days, the tournament will be postponed.

Ivory Coast was expected to offer Africa another colourful organisation of a football tournament after successfully hosting the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations from January 2024 to February 2024.
