Bibiani Gold Stars head into uncharted territory this weekend as they prepare to host Algerian heavyweights JS Kabylie in the CAF Champions League preliminary round at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Ghanaian debutants know the size of the task, with Kabylie bringing their storied pedigree to Accra, but confidence remains intact within Frimpong Manso’s squad. Much of that belief rests on the safe hands of goalkeeper Emmanuel Kobi, who has become a symbol of assurance for the side.
Up front, all eyes are will be on their danger man Samuel Attah Kumi. The striker has been Gold Stars’ spark and is being backed to fire the bullets that could humble Kabylie.
Gold Stars will be desperate to make the most of home advantage before travelling to Algeria for the decisive return leg. A strong first-leg performance, they believe, could keep their continental dream alive.
