Medeama SC's head coach, Augustine Evans Adotey, is determined to bolster his team's defense and pursue a clean sheet as they prepare to face Young Africans at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Friday in the CAF Champions League.

As the Ghanaian champions gear up for their third Group D match in the 2023/24 CAF Champions League, Adotey acknowledged recent defensive challenges during a pre-game press conference. He expressed his commitment to rectifying the defensive issues, emphasizing the significance of defensive solidity for positive results.

"Whether we concede or don’t concede, we’ll give off our best. We’ve been conceding in recent games," Adotey stated.

Reflecting on recent matches, which included encounters with Berekum Chelsea, Asante Kotoko, Al Ahly, and CR Belouizdad, the coach highlighted the imperative of defensive improvement.

“I conceded a goal in my own backyard against Berekum Chelsea, the same against Asante Kotoko, against Al Ahly and then CR Belouizdad. So far, we’ve worked on creating depth in defense to ensure we don’t concede this time around,” Adotey explained, outlining the team's strategic efforts to fortify their defense.

The coach outlined the team's comprehensive approach, balancing defensive resilience and attacking prowess in preparation for the upcoming clash with Young Africans.

"Working on defensive, you still have to think forward. We want to win the game, and so as I’m saying, we’re facing a good side. I will not underrate my opposition,” he added, emphasizing the team's commitment to both defensive stability and effective attacking strategies.
