The sail to have a path through a successful CAF Champions League campaign has started and will be a daunting one for Asante Kotoko in their quest to at least make it through the group stages of this season.

A lot have gone through on the part of the entire rank and file of the club to achieve that but a lot more will be needed to firmly have a grip to get back their name itched amongst the elite of the continental showpiece.

By doing that, Asante Kotoko should be extremely concerned about how they approach their home games in this competition to always stay in line to make amends and be added as ones to fervently compete.

The club's away games in Africa of recent past have not been bad but have not taken advantage of games at their home grounds to fully have the push to advance games in the Africa Club competitions.

A favourable 0-0 draw game against EULMA in Algeria, a good 3-2 away lost to Kano Pillars, 0-0 draw game against FC Nouadhibou in Mauritania 3-2 win in Douala against Coton Sports, 1-0 win against RC Kadiogo, are good examples of Asante Kotoko's away games in Africa of recent years.

Replicating same in their CAF Champions League campaign will be a brilliant thread to achieving their quest of reaching the group stages after 16 years as less efforts is needed to have the qualification.

If these games were to be one played once away from home, there would not be much worries concerning how Asante Kotoko was to make it into the group stages and further advance to the knockout stages but there is another one to be honoured.

The club has not been commanding and domineering with regards to their home games in that time spate which has led to their exiting from the competition at the Preliminary Rounds. One nil lost to Al Hilal in Accra, 1-1 draw against Al Hilal in Kumasi, 2-1 lost to EULMA in Kumasi are clear examples of games Asante Kotoko left to go.

With a good start to their 2022/23 CAF Champions League campaign with a 1-0 win away to RC Kadiogo in Cotonou, Benin, Asante Kotoko look good to continue with their impressive away performance with a Burkinabe', Seidu Zerbo leading the side.

How they tackle their home games will speak a lot on how far they can reach in this season's CAF competitions.
