Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito has revealed that his team will adopt a tactical plan to frustrate Kwara United in the second leg of their CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round clash.
The Ghana FA Cup champions claimed a dramatic 4-3 victory over the Nigerian side in the first leg at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday. Albert Amoah starred with a brace, while Emmanuel Antwi and Joseph Ablorh also got on the scoresheet to give the Porcupine Warriors a slim advantage ahead of the decisive fixture.
Speaking after the match, Zito admitted that his side’s victory exceeded expectations but stressed that the job is not yet done as they prepare for the return leg at the M.K.O. Abiola International Stadium in Abuja.
“At the end of the day, nobody thought we could even score two or three goals,” Zito remarked. “What makes me a little happy is that we won by four goals to three. Now I will plan how to go there and try to do what they came here to do.”
Kotoko will now turn their attention to the crucial second leg, where they must avoid defeat to progress. The winner of the tie will book a showdown with Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club in the next round of the competition.
