Asante Kotoko say they are determined to make their mark in this season’s CAF Confederation Cup, with Communications Director Samuel Sarfo Duku insisting the Porcupine Warriors are targeting more than just participation.
Kotoko face Nigeria’s Kwara United in the preliminary round, and Duku emphasised that the club’s pedigree in African football demands ambition.
“We are a football giant in Africa, and we are not just going to participate in the competition,” he said.
“Against Kwara United, you might think it is a walkover, which is not possible. But as a club, we are determined to go past them, focus on the next challenge and make an impact. That is our target.”
Kotoko, who have won the CAF Champions League twice, are aiming to revive their continental reputation after years of frustration.
Armed with new signings and beefed-up brains on the bench, the Porcupine Warriors are gunning to go all out for glory.
Supporters of the club are expected to travel in their numbers to Accra Sports Stadium, as Kotoko seeks a winning start that could spark a deeper run in the competition.
