A new date has been confirmed by the Confederation of African Football [CAF] for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, which will be hosted in Ivory Coast.
The tournament is now scheduled to begin on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Ebimpe, Abidjan, and end on February 11, 2024, when the winner of the tournament will be crowned.
Originally planned to coincide with the European off-season window, the tournament was scheduled for June and July 2023. However, due to concerns about the weather in the host country, CAF has decided to move the tournament to January and February 2024.
In the last edition of the AFCON, Senegal emerged as winners when they defeated Egypt to claim the title. The 34th edition of the biennial tournament will mark 42 years since Ghana, four-time champions, last won the title.
