The Confederation of African Football (CAF) have finally communicated the date for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations which will now be held early next year.
The continent's highest football governing body earlier, announced a new pattern for the AFCON and the new idea was that it should be moved to the summer instead of the usual early stages of the year since it mostly affects the performances of some African footballers at club level in one way or the either.
However, the 2023 AFCON was initially slated to be staged in the summer of this year but had to be rescheduled due to the delay in fulfilling the qualifiers due to the 2022 World Cup.
CAF have now announced the next AFCON will begin on Saturday, January 13, and will be wrapped up on February 11, 2024 in Cote D'Ivoire.
Seven countries have already booked their ticket for the competition and amongst are host nation Cote D'Ivoire, holders Senegal, Algeria, Burkina Faso, South Africa, Tunisia and high-flying Morocco.
Ghana despite leading Group E with eight points after four matches haven't qualified yet and will have to ensure they avoid a defeat against Madagascar in June to secure qualification.
