Chief Executive Officer of Aduana FC, Collins Atta Poku says they are determined to win the MTN FA Cup in honour of the late Dominic Frimpong, revealing the club is motivated by a heartfelt message the forward sent before his passing.
Frimpong, who was playing for Berekum Chelsea on loan from Aduana FC, tragically lost his life after sustaining a gunshot wound during an armed robbery attack on the team bus following their Ghana Premier League match against FC Samartex last Sunday.
This unfortunate incident happened on the Bibiani–Goaso road at Ahyiresu, where armed men reportedly opened fire, forcing players and officials to flee for safety.
He was quickly rushed to the Bibiani Government Hospital but was pronounced dead right on arrival.
Speaking on Mo TV ahead of the game, the renowned journalist disclosed that he had a touching conversation with the deceased before his passing charging to league cup and so they will put in all efforts to win it for him
“We want to win the MTN FA Cup in honor of the late Dominic Frimpong. Before his passing, he jokingly sent me a voice note saying that if Aduana FC don’t win the FA Cup, I should sack all the players. We have to do it for him.”
Aduana FC will face Nations FC in the first semi-final later today, with kickoff set for 15:00 GMT (3:00pm) at the Swedru Stadium.
