The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has unveiled the official match ball for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, which will be staged in Morocco.
The ball, named ITRI, was launched on Monday in partnership with sportswear giant PUMA, and draws inspiration from Moroccan heritage while symbolising African unity and passion for football.
In a statement, CAF said: “The Confédération Africaine de Football (‘CAF’), in partnership with leading global sports brand PUMA, have unveiled the Official Match Ball for the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025.
Refereed to as ITRI, the ball draws inspiration from Morocco’s centuries-old zellij art form – renowned for its intricate geometric mosaics – whilst symbolising the unity and passion of African football across the continent.”

The word ITRI translates to “star” in Amazigh, paying homage to the star featured on the Moroccan flag and the geometric patterns that define the country’s traditional zellij craftsmanship.
The ball’s design features striking Moroccan motifs, including star geometry, floral outlines and circular symmetry, with each carrying symbolic meaning. According to CAF, the star geometry represents ambition, light, and the pursuit of excellence on Africa’s biggest football stage, while the petal shapes reflect celebration and growth. The circular symmetry, meanwhile, stands for unity among the 24 nations set to compete in the tournament.
AFCON 2025 will take place in Morocco from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026, marking the first time the competition will run across the turn of the year.
